SPALS
Home Page
SPALS is a warm and
compassionate community of people who have experienced the
loss of a child due to miscarriage, selective termination,
stillbirth, neonatal death, sudden infant death, or
accidental death.
SPALS is an active
support network, with about 400 members sharing mutual
support and information regarding subsequent pregnancy. Who
are we? One of our SPALS moms puts it best:
We're
strong -- enough to reach out for the support we
need; enough to be hopeful and look to the future.
We're brave -- to jump right back into something
that hurt us so much when it didn't turn out well.
We're courageous -- ready to face the bad thing
and grow from it, and to help ourselves and each
other.
We've been to a very dark place -- yet we're
searching for all the light in the world -- and trying to
share that light with each other.
We're wise -- trying to understand it. We've
become wise because now we know things about life.
During our first
full year of operation in 1996, SPALS provided a safe haven
for a total of 475 bereaved parents interested in pregnancy
following a loss. Since its inception, SPALS has provided a
safe haven for thousands bereaved parents.
Unfortunately, we are not
currently able to accept new members. A similar group operates
under the SPALS identity on Facebook and you may wish to seek
support there.
